old leaves falling
like old leaves, we will fall
and rot and fade,
losing our glory, once upheld
above all else.
in zigzags we will fall
slowly, gradually
and without a doubt,
surely.
on cold dead earth, we will fall
again passing through all
the pains we have endured
in rising. (yes, in rising, we’ve pained -
yet again i say, we will fall, thank you.)
passing through all life’s branches, we will fall,
through thickets,
through thick thorns
and onto the ground
like old leaves, we will fall
and rot and fade,
though in rising, we have pained.
through thickets and thorns,
to the dead and frigid earth,
i say, we will fall.
